A fire damaged a Jacksonville oral surgery office early Friday, sending debris into a nearby Starbucks patio as investigators work to determine what caused it.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A fire damaged a Jacksonville oral and maxillofacial surgery office early Friday morning, leaving glass, roof damage and debris outside the building and damaging a Starbucks next door.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said crews were dispatched at about 2:30 a.m. and found the fire still active when they arrived. No injuries have been reported.

Video from the scene showed crews and officers moving through the property and documenting the damage. Glass could be seen on the ground in front of the oral surgery office, while shingles were hanging from the edge of the roof. Black ash was also visible along the side of the building.
The damage extended to the Starbucks across the parking lot.
A heavy metal door from the oral surgery building was blown off and ended up in the Starbucks patio area, where the railing was damaged. Several parking and pickup signs were also damaged. Crews were seen cleaning up around the Starbucks.
John Oster, a patient at the oral surgery office, came to the scene after seeing the fire reported on the news. Oster said he had an appointment scheduled for Monday.
“I had no idea anything like this would happen,” Oster said.
Oster said he had only recently started coming to the office and had not yet met the owners or dentist personally. He said a friend’s wife works at the office.
Oster said he was surprised by the extent of the damage after initially seeing pictures from farther away.
“I wasn’t sure. Looking at the pictures, I couldn’t really tell all of this was going on,” Oster said.
Oster said he plans to return once the office is repaired.
“And then I’ll eventually go back when they get it fixed, I suppose,” Oster said.
He also expressed sympathy for those connected to the business.
“I’m just really sorry to hear about all of this,” Oster said.
The fire also affected the neighboring Starbucks, which did not have exterior surveillance cameras available, according to the business.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
