Orlando ‘Marro’ Perea
Orlando “Marro” Perea, 82, passed away on July 25, 2026. He was born Aug. 31, 1943, in Terlingua, Texas, to Jose Perea Sr. and Marianna Perea.
Orlando graduated from Ray High School in 1963 and proudly enlisted in the United States Army that same year, beginning a lifetime defined by service, hard work, loyalty, and dedication. After his service, he made his home in Superior, Arizona, where he worked as a miner for both Magma and Asarco copper companies. His work ethic and commitment earned him the respect of coworkers and friends throughout the mining community.
Orlando was also deeply involved in his Catholic faith and local Parish community. He participated in church activities, supported Parish events, and lived out his values through service, kindness, and devotion. His faith was a steady foundation throughout his life and a source of strength for his family.
Outside of work and church, Orlando lived life with a spirit of adventure. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling, always finding joy in the outdoors and in the company of those he cared for. His stories, humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed.
Orlando is survived by his children, Mary Ann Perea, Roberta F. Chapman, and Orlando E. Perea; his brothers, Jose Perea and Raymond Perea; his sister, Trankie Ramirez; his life partner, Lola Wittig; stepson, Ryan Wittig; stepdaughter, Regan Madueno; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his legacy of strength and resilience.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Perea Sr.; his mother, Marianna Perea; his brother, Ermino Perea; his sister, Mary Cisneros; and his beloved Chihuahua, Yodie, who was a loyal companion for many years.
Orlando “Marro” Perea will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his devotion to his Catholic faith, his loved of the outdoors, and the deep affection he held for his family. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Services were held Saturday, Aug. 15, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Superior. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery.
