FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A Broward County Transit employee has been arrested on disturbing charges.

Authorities took Charles Weiner, 44, of Oakland Park, into custody on Wednesday.

Officials identified him as an IT employee for Broward County Transit.

Weiner is facing multiple charges of possession or control of child sex abuse material and a charge of compiling computer pornography featuring a minor.

Following his arrest, Broward County Transit released the following statement to Local 10 News:

“We are aware that a Broward County Transit employee has been arrested by the Broward Sheriff’s Office in connection with alleged possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material. The employee did not have a public-facing role. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and following the appropriate protocols regarding his future employment.”

As of Wednesday afternoon, Weiner was being held at the Paul Rein Detention Facility on a $50,000 bond.
