Jury seated in trial of suspect in deadly 2024 downtown Orlando Halloween shooting
ORLANDO, Fla. —
A jury has been seated in the trial of the man accused of killing two people in the 2024 downtown Orlando Halloween shooting.
Jury selection began Monday in Jaylen Edgar’s trial, which is scheduled to begin Thursday.
Almost two years ago, thousands of people were on Orange Avenue for Halloween when Edgar, who was 17 at the time, allegedly walked up to Tyrek Hill and shot him.
Prosecutors say Edgar then ran several blocks away and killed UCF student Timothy Schmidt, Jr.
Opening statements begin at 9 a.m. Thursday.
