The Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association (ADTBJA) announces a new season of its monthly “Youth Jazz Jam” beginning on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 1 – 3 p.m. at Pinellas Community Church, 5501 31st St. S, St. Petersburg, FL. The jazz jam occurs every last Saturday of the month. Now in its second year, the ADTBJA Youth Jazz Jam is open to elementary through high school students across all counties, pairing young players with mentors Phil Magallenes and Dwayne White, ADTBJA’s Director of Jazz Education, for two hours of real, hands-on music making. Piano, bass, and drums (rhythm instruments) are available on site, and students are welcome to bring their own. Students should come with foundational knowledge of their instrument — this is a working session, not an introduction.
