All 3 ‘Tomb Raiders’ now arrested in connection with cemetery thefts, OCSO says
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —
All three suspects accused of robbing graves across counties in nine states, including Orange County, have been arrested, the sheriff’s office said.
Drake Milam, 33, his girlfriend Porsche Bancroft, 32, and her mother Angela Garrett, 52, face charges for allegedly stealing family heirlooms from cemeteries.
Garrett was arrested Tuesday. Her daughter and her boyfriend were arrested Wednesday.
OCSO said the three of them face a variety of charges, including injuring or removing a tomb or monument; disturbing the contents of a grave or tomb; and grand theft of over $20,000.
“While these arrests are an important step toward accountability, we know no arrest can undo the pain of having a loved one’s final resting place disturbed or cherished family heirlooms taken for an easy payday,” OCSO said.
Deputies said investigators are still working to identify more victims.
The sheriff’s office told WESH 2 that the two locations the suspects targeted in the Orange County jurisdiction were the Woodlawn Cemetery in Gotha and Queen of Angels Cemetery in Winter Park.
The Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home provided the following statement:
“Theft is always wrong, but stealing items a family left to memorialize a loved one is particularly abhorrent. We have worked closely with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office throughout its investigation and have provided surveillance footage showing individuals believed to be responsible for the thefts. We would deeply appreciate anyone who could provide additional information to the Sheriff’s Office. In addition, we have added additional security measures that have been communicated directly to affected families.”
