The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is investigating reported gunfire on Wednesday afternoon that kept students held past dismissal.
IRCSO says that around 3:26 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies responded to an area near 7700 98th Avenue in Vero Lake Estates after a 911 call reported gunshots in the area.
Out of an abundance of caution, IRCSO says that Treasure Coast Elementary School held students past dismissal until the source of the gunfire was found, but no direct threat to the school was determined and the measure was purely precautionary.
