PORT ST. LUCIE − Police are investigating after the body of a man was found Nov. 7 in the St. Lucie River, the agency stated.

Police about 8:11 a.m. went to the boardwalk under the so-called Twin Bridges on Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard, just west of Southeast Westmoreland Boulevard.

Two men fishing on the boardwalk noticed the body, and stayed at the scene until police arrived.

“It is unknown how long the body was in the river,” police stated.

Police have not identified the man, and a cause of death could not immediately be determined.
