TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Talquin Electric issued a precautionary boil water notice Thursday for all those in the Meadows Water System in eastern Leon County.
There are reportedly about 1,878 water services affected by the boil water notice. Officials advise that community members refrain from drinking water without boiling it first.
The community is advised to bring all water to a boil, let it run for 1 minute, and then cool before drinking or cooking. Those affected by the water notice may see discolored tap water because of shifting sediments in the water main, according to Talquin.
Discolored water can stain clothes, so the electric company suggests community members run water from an outside spigot or bathroom faucet to ensure the water is flushed. People should also let the sediments settle before drinking if it is present in their water.
