Maine police arrest Florida man accused of driving box-truck the wrong way on I-95
A Florida man was arrested Wednesday after Maine State Police said a box truck was reported driving erratically on Interstate 95, traveling the wrong way at one point and prompting 14 calls to 911.

A Florida man was arrested Wednesday after Maine State Police said a box truck was reported driving erratically on Interstate 95, traveling the wrong way at one point and prompting 14 calls to 911.
The Bangor Regional Communications Center began receiving reports around 5:32 p.m. about the truck traveling south on I-95 in Old Town, according to state police.
Police said the truck drove through a closed gate at a weigh station before continuing southbound. Troopers began searching for the vehicle, with Bangor and Orono police also alerted.
The truck later exited I-95 at Exit 187 on Hogan Road in Bangor, then returned to the interstate heading north, police said. At one point, the truck crossed the median and began traveling the wrong way in the southbound lanes before correcting course.
Police later received reports that the truck was driving in circles in the Lowe’s parking lot in Bangor. Officers eventually located the vehicle in the BJ’s parking lot, where the driver was taken into custody without incident.
State police identified the driver as 36-year-old Julio Matos of Orange City, Florida.
Matos was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and charged with criminal operating under the influence, driving to endanger and failure to notify of a motor vehicle accident. Police said additional charges could be filed.
No injuries were reported.
State police thanked the Bangor Police Department for assisting with the arrest.
