TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Second Harvest of the Big Bend is getting a major expansion to help feed locals in need.
A new 28,000-square-foot Impact Center is set to open next month, more than doubling the size of Second Harvest’s current space.
The expansion includes more room for volunteers, a community and training center, and upgraded administrative offices.
Second Harvest’s Chief Development Officer James McGowan said the momentum has been building for some time, and the organization is excited to open the new space and better serve the community.
“This really is more than volunteers. It’s to get the community involved in what we’re doing,” McGowan said. “We’ll be able to bring in more fresh produce for our residents to have within our communities and just really help grow what we can bring to our neighbors in need.”
The grand opening of the Impact Center is set for September 24th at 10 a.m. an everyone is invited to attend.
