The college football season has entered the playoff poll period with the first College Football Playoff poll released after last weekend’s games. Teams in the hunt know how vital each game can be. Those out of the postseason picture are often looking to the final month to determine how drastic the changes will be for next season.

Here’s what is at stake for some of the college football teams in the Sunshine State:

UCF hosts Houston tonight (8 p.m. ET, FS1)

The Knights enter tonight with a record of 4-4. Two of UCF’s four remaining games are on the road against ranked teams (No. 8 Texas Tech and #7 BYU). To be bowl eligible, UCF would need two more wins. Tonight against Houston (7-2, 4-2 in Big 12) and later this month against Oklahoma State appear to be the best prospects for victory. A loss tonight and the Knights will have to upset a top-10 team to be bowl eligible.

Miami hosts Syracuse (Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN)

After a loss at SMU last time out, the Hurricanes have no more margin for error if they want to make the College Football Playoff. Miami’s best route is to win out, then win the ACC championship game to earn an automatic berth into the playoffs. In any case, a loss would almost certainly eliminate Miami from the playoff picture.

Florida State at Clemson (Saturday, 7 p.m. ET, ACC Network)

The Seminoles (4-4, 1-4 ACC) delayed the need to decide the future of head coach Mike Norvell by another week. After starting the season with three straight victories, including over Alabama, the Seminoles had lost four consecutive games before beating Wake Forest 42-7. With games against Virginia Tech, North Carolina State, and Florida remaining on the schedule, the case could be made for the Seminoles to win or lose each of those games. Would Norvell salvage his job by winning out? Possibly. A loss at Clemson would again ramp up the noise in the system.

Florida at Kentucky (Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET, SEC Network)

After giving Georgia all the Bulldogs could handle in Jacksonville last week, the Gators (3-5, 2-3 SEC) travel to Lexington to face Kentucky. With Billy Gonzalez installed as the interim head coach, can Florida finish the season with a winning record? They would have to win out to do so.
