TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Fridays in North Florida and South Georgia just got a whole lot better.
It’s the season premiere of Football Friday Night on WCTV! High school football fully returns this week, with the FHSAA and GHSA beginning their regular seasons. And on either side of the state line, we have blockbuster games to kick off the 2026 FFN season.
Our Game of the Week is a massive showdown between two of South Georgia’s powerhouse programs: Thomas County Central and Colquitt County. It’s their first meeting in 14 years. The Yellow Jackets begin their quest for a third state title in four seasons, while the Packers are hoping to make a deep playoff run in the loaded 7A class.
And in Florida, big-time Tallahassee rivals square off at Gene Cox Stadium. Rickards has beaten Godby six straight times, including last year’s 41-34 showstopper in which the Raiders erased a 20-point deficit. The Cougars have revenge on the mind this year.
