Traffic lights out, part of Gum Branch Road closed after Jacksonville crash

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A crash has closed part of a road in Jacksonville, knocking out power in the area.

Jacksonville police say a car hit a utility pole near Gum Branch Road and Western Boulevard Friday evening.

Traffic lights at the intersection are not working, and police say poles are down and utility lines are low-hanging.

Gum Branch Road is temporarily closed south of Western Boulevard.

Northbound drivers are being sent onto New Frontier Way, while southbound traffic is being routed onto Western Boulevard.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.
