Gum Branch Road to close south of Western Boulevard as crews handle pole crash

A crash near Gum Branch Road and Western Boulevard has caused a power outage and traffic disruptions in Jacksonville, according to police.

The Jacksonville Police Department said a vehicle struck a utility pole, leaving traffic lights at the intersection inoperable. Downed utility poles and low-hanging utility lines are also in the area. Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.

Gum Branch Road is temporarily closed south of Western Boulevard. Northbound traffic is being redirected onto New Frontier Way, while southbound traffic is being routed onto Western Boulevard, JPD said.
