August 22, 2026 – The City of Tampa and the Tampa Police Department are converting the Howard Avenue Annex building into a state-of-the-art complex for the department’s Forensics Investigations Unit and Evidence Section. Additionally, the site will include an impound lot. According to a prepared statement, the project is expected to be completed by May 2028. The effort “centers on the adaptive reuse and renovation of the roughly 38,000-square-foot warehouse, paired with a 7,300-square-foot expansion.”
