OKEECHOBEE, Fla. (CBS12) — A street in Okeechobee County has reopened following a gas leak on Wednesday.

“A big thank you to the gas crews for their incredibly fast and efficient response, and for making everyone’s safety their top priority,” the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office says.

OCSO said construction crews accidentally struck a natural gas line on NE 48th Avenue, prompting the street to be shut down temporarily.

The sheriff’s office said the leak was minimal, but the roadway was temporarily closed to ensure the safety of motorists, residents and emergency personnel.
