TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man previously convicted of murder has been found guilty of shooting his mother’s neighbor, authorities announced on Friday.

Jontavis Williams, 42, was arrested in November 2025 in connection with the Tampa shooting, which Hillsborough County deputies believe happened after his mother got into an argument with her neighbor in September 2025.

When deputies arrived at the home on Beddington Court, they found the victim seriously injured from a single gunshot wound.

At the time of his arrest, Williams was also wanted in a Tampa Police Department investigation related to a firearm offense in October 2025. Williams had also previously been convicted of second-degree murder.

According to the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office, 13th Judicial Circuit, jurors found Williams guilty of second-degree attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, and shooting at, within, or into a building.
