The
Professional Fighters League concluded its Summer Series on
Saturday night with a final stop in Tampa, where Cris
Cyborg defended her PFL women’s featherweight title. Facing
promotional newcomer Ketlen
Vieira, who was ineligible to win the championship after
missing weight, Cyborg delivered an entertaining performance in the
final fight of her PFL contract at

As the dust settles on a busy summer schedule, the PFL has several
compelling matchups to consider for the final months of 2026 or the
beginning of its 2027 campaign following the MVP merger. If Cyborg
is not ready to end her competitive career, an intriguing
opportunity could await her.

This one might be a long shot, but what if Cyborg decides that she
wants to continue competing and the
Most Valuable Promotions merger provides enough incentive to
keep her career going?

A boxing match between Cris
Cyborg and Holly Holm
would be an entertaining option, particularly if the merger results
in cards featuring both boxing and mixed martial arts bouts. Given
their names, accomplishments and striking backgrounds, it would be
a natural spectacle. If Cyborg has no interest in continuing her
career, she can walk away after a legendary run.

The matchup originally scheduled for the PFL Tampa co-main event
should be rebooked as soon as possible. With Usman
Nurmagomedov’s future uncertain, Rabadanov needs another
significant test in the lightweight division. Kaszuba fits the
bill, and their meeting could become a championship fight if the
title is vacated. Kaszuba withdrew from their scheduled bout
because of an injury, while Rabadanov handled replacement opponent
Tracy
Reeder in the first round. The lightweight division needs new
challengers, and Kaszuba could establish himself as one by
defeating Rabadanov.

Marcos made an immediate impact in his promotional debut
against Magomed
“Tiger” Magomedov, although the finish was anticlimactic for
both men. Marcos was tested throughout the fight, but an injury to
Magomedov’s left shoulder late in the second round ultimately
brought the bout to an end. Magomedov’s corner threw in the towel
when he could not continue, but Marcos did his job and defeated a
former title challenger. The victory should immediately propel him
into the rankings. A matchup with Lazaro
Dayron could add intrigue near the top of a bantamweight
division that needs to establish its title picture sooner rather
than later.
Luke
Trainer scored a spectacular knockout against Roland
Dunlap on Saturday night, landing a front kick to the face
before closing the show with ground-and-pound in the second round.
Trainer should next face former training partner Simeon
Powell, who earned the biggest victory of his career when he
defeated Dovlet Yagshimuradov in July. With champion Corey
Anderson continuing to pursue a fight against Vadim
Nemkov, the light heavyweight division needs a clear No. 1
contender. A matchup between Powell and Trainer could determine who
receives the next title opportunity.
Sabrinna
de Sousa earned the biggest victory of her young career by
defeating Taila
Santos via unanimous decision after pressuring the veteran
throughout their fight. The rising contender should now find
herself in the upper half of the divisional rankings. With a title
fight scheduled for October, a high-profile matchup against
Paulina
Wisniewska makes sense. The bout would pit two of the
division’s top young fighters against each other in a potential
title eliminator entering 2027. The PFL has plenty of emerging
talent to promote, and this matchup would push one of its brightest
prospects toward the front of the line.
