The Miami Dolphins and New York Giants met earlier this week for a joint practice session at Miami’s Baptist Health Training Complex, and it was pretty obvious that John Harbaugh’s squad was the better team on the practice field.

After that session, and after both teams lost their preseason openers, they played at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday afternoon for their second preseason game.

Dolphins Wire had all of the updates throughout this contest until a winner was crowned.

END OF GAME, FINAL SCORE

The Dolphins didn’t do anything well in this game. They were beaten in all three phases. If this is what it’s going to look like in the regular season, this will be a long year.

SCORE: NYG 26, MIA 3

TURNOVER

The Dolphins finally got a stop late in the fourth quarter, forcing a punt. However, Dolphins wide receiver Tahj Washington was back to return. The ball went through Washington’s hands and was recovered by New York.

GIANTS QB CHANGE

Brandon Allen got three drives for the Giants in the second half, completing 13-of-18 passes for 101 yards. Jake Haener took over under center later in the fourth quarter.

GIANTS SCORE

New York continued to add on, using the legs of their kickers. Sauls nailed a 37-yard field goal to put the Giants up by 23 points with less than 10 minutes to go.

END OF 3RD QUARTER

The third quarter was another ugly showing for both teams. New York gained just 59 yards on 16 plays over their first two possessions and scored three points. Things were worse for Miami, who went -19 yards on seven plays.

SCORE: NYG 23, MIA 3

GIANTS SCORE

Both teams had stalled drives to start the second half, but the Giants drove 38 yards on their second possession of the third quarter, setting up kicker Ben Sauls for a 27-yard field goal.

SCORE: NYG 23, MIA 3

QB CHANGE FOR BOTH TEAMS

After Jameis Winston played the first half for the Giants, Brandon Allen took over on their first drive of the third quarter. For Miami, Mark Gronowski replaced Cam Miller, who finished his day completing 6-of-11 passes for 60 yards and 18 rushing yards.

END OF FIRST HALF

The Dolphins looked horrendous on both sides of the ball. They were unable to keep possessions alive and didn’t do much defensively to slow down Jameis Winston. They’re honestly lucky to be down by just 17 points.

SCORE: NYG 20, MIA 3

GIANTS SCORE

Just as the half ended, Zavada made a kick from 32 yards to extend New York’s lead back to 17 points.

SCORE: NYG 20, MIA 3

DOLPHINS SCORE

The Dolphins struggled to do much in the first half, and that drive was no different. They only went 28 yards in seven plays, but kicker Riley Patterson was able to deliver three points on a 53-yard field goal. At least it won’t be a shutout.

SCORE: MIA 3, NYG 17

DOLPHINS INJURY

Late in the second quarter, Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II rushed for a yard on first-and-10. He landed hard on his elbow and remained down after the play.

GIANTS SCORE

The Giants got the ball at their own 29-yard line and drove the length of the field in nine plays. Running back Devin Singletary took a handoff on second-and-9 and bounced to the outside, outracing Dolphins linebacker Willie Gay Jr. for a touchdown.

SCORE: NYG 17, MIA 0

GIANTS SCORE

After getting a great starting position due to Bradley Pinion’s shanked punt, the Giants only gained four yards on three plays and settled for a field goal. Kicker Dominic Zvada nailed the 43-yard attempt to put New York up by 10 points.

SCORE: NYG 10, MIA 0

END OF 1ST QUARTER

Neither the Dolphins or Giants have been overly impressive early in this game. They’ve both recovered a fumble, and New York has found the end zone. If Miami continues to play like this, they may get shut out.

SCORE: NYG 7, MIA 0

TURNOVER

With the rain coming down, Giants running back Tyrone Tracy took a hand-off and lost control of the ball. Dolphins linebacker jumped on it and secured possession for Miami inside their own 15-yard line.

TURNOVER

The Dolphins gave the ball to running back Jaylen Wright on a third down, needing 12 yards. Wright hit the middle of the line and coughed up the ball. New York recovered it and took possession at their own 36-yard line.

BIG PLAY

Miami’s offense was potentially facing another stalled drive, but Dolphins quarterback Cam Miller found rookie wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. for a 30-yard gain. Coleman was somehow able to hang on through the contact, which was enough to draw a flag.

GIANTS SCORE FIRST

With roughly 10 minutes left to go in the first quarter, Winston scrambled out of the pocket to the right, ran and dove for the pylon. The score and extra point put the Giants up by seven.

Dolphins rookie suffers injury on first Giants drive

On a second-and-5 pass, Dolphins linebacker Trey Moore pressured Giants quarterback Jameis Winston and landed awkwardly. He remained down after the completion and had to be helped off the field. He was eventually carted off the sideline.
