Brazilian duo Rafael Matos and Orlando Luz win the Cincinnati Open in men’s doubles
MASON, Ohio —
Winners have been crowned at the Cincinnati Open in men’s doubles.
On Sunday, Brazilian nationals Rafael Matos and Orlando Luz won their title match in a late tie-breaker by a score of 6-4, 3-6, 10-7, defeating Germany’s Constantin Frantzen and the Netherlands’ Robin Haase.

This is the fourth title of the year for the pair, after they also recently won tournaments in Santiago and Buenos Aires while competing together as partners. Most recently, the duo won another 1000-level tournament at the Canadian Open just two weeks ago.
After the match, Matos appeared to be in disbelief, looking around at the crowd as they cheered him on.
“An incredible two weeks,” said Matos while holding the Rookwood Cup. “And (thank you) to our team… all my family, my fiancée, my friends in Brazil (who have been) sending a lot of messages, a lot of love. I just enjoyed it very much these two weeks.”
Afterwards, Luz added that he was happy to see the turnout of people cheering them on and waving Brazilian flags in an event that typically draws a lower turnout than singles tennis.
“We want to keep the doubles alive. So this is good that we know that you like (watching them),” continued Luz. “This is incredible these two weeks, it’s unbelievable. I actually have no words to describe the feeling right now.”
The two have been on tour together as tennis doubles partners since December, with both playing in only a small handful of singles matches during that time.
