Two areas of interest now have a medium chance of development
Invest 95L was also designated, but it poses no threat to the U.S.
The Gulf Coast Storm Team is monitoring two areas of interest for tropical development over the next week. One has been designated as Invest 95L.
Invest 95L:
A weak area of low pressure a few hundred miles east-southeast of Bermuda has been dubbed an invest. As of 8 p.m. Sunday, it had 50% odds for tropical development over the next two days and 50% over the next week.
The disturbance is drifting west-southwest but is expected to curve north early next week. Any tropical development would be gradual, and regardless of development, this area poses no direct threat to Florida.

Central Atlantic:
A tropical wave set to emerge off of the west coast of Africa in the coming days is worth watching once it eventually reaches the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. This area now has a medium chance for development over the next seven days with odds at 50%.
Once it reaches the ocean, the National Hurricane Center expects it to move westward between 15 and 20 mph. An area of low pressure may form early this week, and a tropical depression may form mid-to-late week.
Northeastern Atlantic:
A non-tropical area of low pressure in the northeastern Atlantic is no longer expected to develop.

If a named storm were to form, the next name on this year’s list is Dolly.
