Fort Pierce homicide suspect identified, arrested in July killing
FORT PIERCE, Fla. —
A suspect has been identified and faces charges in connection with a deadly shooting that happened in Fort Pierce earlier this summer.

The Fort Pierce Police Department announced that 28-year-old Cornelius Trevon Ivory was identified as the suspect in a homicide that occurred July 5 on South 14th Street.
He is facing charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
A 28-year-old woman sustained a non-life-threatening injury to her hand, while a 28-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital. The police department announced on July 7 that the man died from his injuries.
An initial investigation revealed that the victims were involved in an earlier altercation at the 5800 block of Okeechobee Road before returning to their residence.
As the victims arrived home, a man not believed to be involved in the altercation on Okeechobee Road, approached them and fired a weapon before leaving the area.
Detectives said they developed probable cause for Ivory’s arrest through an extensive investigation that included eyewitness accounts, information from community members, law enforcement databases and assistance from the Palm Bay Police Department.
Fort Pierce Police obtained an arrest warrant charging Ivory in connection with the killing. Authorities said he was served with an arrest warrant while in the St. Lucie County Jail involving possession of weapon by a convicted felon on July 24.
Ivory remains in the jail, and his first appearance in the latest case was Friday.
Investigators credited members of the public who came forward with information during the case, as well as the Palm Bay Police Department for assisting in the investigation.
