Labor Day weekend in downtown Jacksonville will start with live music and local food at Rock the Block.
The family-friendly event will be held on Sept. 4 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on New Bridge Street, and is at no-cost to the public.
The event is a celebration of the completion of the New Bridge Street project and a grand reopening for the road.
The New Bridge Street project was an infrastructure and streetscape improvement project that made changes to stormwater, sidewalks, street lighting, landscaping, medians and delivery areas.
To celebrate, Rock the Block will have a street fair featuring local businesses as vendors, food trucks and beer tents, said Lisa Miller, Jacksonville public information officer.
There will also be a pop-up car show for people to enjoy, Miller said.
Attendees will be able to enjoy live music from The Phoebes and Zach Harrington, along with a silent disco.
People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for the concert. No outside alcohol or coolers will be allowed into the event.
Additionally, Jacksonville Transit will be providing shuttle services to help with people who have to park at a distance from the event, Miller said.
