Miami-Dade County drivers are getting another break at the pump to start the workweek, with the average price of regular gasoline in the metropolitan area falling 0.8 cents per gallon over the past week.
While the Miami average dipped to $3.91 per gallon as of Sunday, regular gasoline at both Key Biscayne gas stations remained at $5.79 per gallon, making the Island the most expensive places to fill up in Miami-Dade, as reported by GasBuddy.
The Miami average is now 11.4 cents per gallon lower than a month ago but remains 96.9 cents higher than a year ago. According to GasBuddy, the cheapest station in Miami was selling regular gasoline for $3.58 per gallon on Sunday. Across Florida, the lowest reported price Sunday was $3.37 per gallon.
Nationally, prices the average price of gasoline rose 2.9 cents per gallon over the past week to $4.05.
“Average gasoline prices moved higher in the majority of states over the last week, with fewer than 10 states seeing declines,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Gasoline, while not at all-time records, is at its highest level ever recorded this late in the calendar year, meaning Americans could for the first time ever see a national average price of gasoline above $4 per gallon on Labor Day — eclipsing the previous record of $3.83 per gallon set in 2012.”
