A former University of Miami doctor and professor is speaking out about his arrest on sexual battery charges.

Dr. Ranjith Ramasamy refuted the accusations in a video less than 24 hours after bonding out of jail.

The 45-year-old had been arrested on three counts of sexual battery, and has pleaded not guilty.

In a video statement released Friday, he called the allegations against him slanderous and false.

“I never sexually assaulted anyone, never,” he said in the minute-long video provided by his attorneys. “I never performed any unnecessary medical procedure. ⁠I never assaulted anyone.”

Investigators said three men claimed the doctor inappropriately touched them and used his position to perform sexually explicit exams that weren’t medically necessary.

Court records showed the alleged victims were former students and employees.

“These slanderous allegations were levied against me more than two and a half years ago by disgruntled members of the university community,” Ramasamy said in the video.

Ramasamy had been employed at the University of Miami as director of male reproductive medicine and surgery, and later associate professor of urology.

He explained why he left in 2024 in the video.

“The employment situation with the university became untenable, so I accepted a position with a large healthcare facility in Dubai,” he said.

Ramasamy said when he left to Dubai more than two years ago, there were no criminal charges or investigations pending against him.

Police said their investigation started in 2024, but accusers have reported incidents dating back to 2016.

“As soon as I found out about these criminal charges a few months ago, I immediately agreed to voluntarily return to the United States to refute the false accusations and clear my name,” he said in the video.

Ramasamy bonded out of jail early Friday and was fitted with an ankle monitor as part of his release.

His attorneys said he is living at home in Sarasota, where he will stay while the case moves through the court system.
