FORT PIERCE — Fort Pierce recently welcomed a new addition to its local business community with the grand opening of Bravo Supermarket, a family-owned and operated grocery store led by Huu Nguyen.
The grand opening of the new store, located at 2743 Peters Road, brought together community leaders, law enforcement representatives, and members of the St. Lucie County business community to mark the occasion.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Scott Rolfsmeyer, director of business development for the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce, marked the official opening of the new market which began operations about eight months ago, as well as welcoming the business as a new member of the Chamber.
In his remarks, Rolfsmeyer wished Nguyen great success in his latest business endeavor.
“It’s always great to see good things happening to good people,” he added.
The market is very much a family affair, with Nguyen’s wife and co-owner Ly-le Nguyen, store manager Khang Nguyen, the owners’ son, and son-in-law and business manager Devin Schoby of Maritime Air.
Nguyen said that he came to Florida 14 years ago with every intention of retiring, but found that he was not well suited for the leisure life. Between his previous homes in Minnesota and Colorado and his new home here in Florida, Nguyen owns 13 businesses that run the gamut from pool hall to grocery store.
“I may not make much money,” he explains with a smile, “but I like giving people jobs.”
Among the local dignitaries attending the ribbon cutting were Fort Pierce City Manager Richard Chess and City Commissioner Arnold Gaines, as well as St. Lucie County Clerk of Court Michelle Miller. Their presence highlighted the importance of the new supermarket to the community and its local economy.
“Small businesses are the backbone of the community,” said City Manager Richard Chess.
The grand opening also drew several members of the Fort Pierce Police Department, including Police Chief David Smith. Their participation added to the strong show of community support for Nguyen and his family as they begin this new chapter.
Bravo Supermarket represents more than the opening of another retail business in Fort Pierce. Family-run businesses often become an important part of the neighborhoods they serve, providing convenient access to everyday necessities while contributing to the local economy and community life.
With the support of city officials, the Chamber of Commerce, law enforcement, and members of the community, the opening was a positive beginning for the family-owned supermarket.
Bravo Supermarket now joins the growing network of businesses serving Fort Pierce residents and looks forward to becoming part of the community for years to come.
