GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A former teacher with Greenville County Schools was arrested in Florida in connection with a sexual battery investigation involving a child, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
Brian L. Pavluchuck, 40, is accused of sexually abusing the victim multiple times from 2014 to 2017. He was arrested on July 24 during which time he worked as a teacher at Punta Gorda Middle School, the deputies said.

Pavluchuck is facing charges of sexual battery and lewd and lascivious molestation.
Charlotte County Public Schools gave the following statement:
“We are deeply troubled by the arrest made today involving a Charlotte County Public Schools employee. While this matter did not occur within a school setting, we want to be clear that every CCPS employee is held to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, both on and off campus. We understand the concern and disappointment this creates within our community, and we take these matters seriously. The individual has been placed on administrative leave as we follow established procedures and continue to work closely with the appropriate authorities. We encourage anyone with information related to this matter to contact local law enforcement.”
Greenville County Schools confirmed Pavluchuck previously worked as a teacher at Dr. Phinnize J. Fisher Middle School from July to November 2024.
The school district received a report that he showed his class an image of a fully clothed child, who was not a Greenville County Schools student, with an inappropriate image superimposed on it. He resigned after the district began an investigation, officials said.
The district reports notifying law enforcement and the South Carolina Department of Education of the incident.
