Students enrolled in after-school programs at Key Biscayne K-8 Center will continue to receive meals at no separate charge during the 2026-27 school year.
The school is among more than 285 Miami-Dade County public schools participating in the district’s Afterschool Meals Program.
The announcement comes after universal free breakfast and lunch ended at schools serving Key Biscayne. Unlike that broader program, the after-school meals are available specifically to children enrolled in regularly scheduled educational or enrichment programs after school.
The meals must meet U.S. Department of Agriculture nutrition requirements and include fresh fruits and vegetables.
The program operates under the USDA’s Child Care Food Program.
