Orlando Shakes to present Broadway hit “Come From Away” in Central Florida

The musical “Come From Away,” based on a true story of community and compassion after 9/11, takes the stage in Central Florida on select nights through September 27.

The award-winning Broadway musical “Come From Away” opens Wednesday, Aug. 26, in Central Florida, bringing a true story of community, compassion, and connection to the stage.

The musical tells the story of 7,000 passengers stranded after 9/11 and the small town that opened its doors to them.

Cast member Katie Whetsell, who plays Beverly and other characters, discussed her roles and how the cast brings dozens of characters to life.

Music director Bert Rodriguez explained the significance of the music in the production, saying it is an essential part of telling the story.

The musical runs on select nights through September 27.
