VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A Jacksonville man was left with serious injuries on I-95 North in Volusia County after a hit-and-run crash involving a tractor-trailer on Wednesday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Officials said that before the crash, the man was on the outside shoulder of the interstate working on his disabled car. The semi-truck was traveling north in the outside lane and didn’t see the man on the shoulder and struck him.
The 28-year-old man’s mother made a GoFundMe to help pay for expenses related to the incident.
She said he lay at the scene for two and a half hours before he was found by his fiancée, who went to check on him. The GoFundMe says that he lost a lot of blood, his leg was amputated and he needs surgery on his right hand and arm.

FHP said the semi-truck should have right-side damage. Anyone with information is asked to call *FHP (*347) or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS.
