Officials announced on Tuesday that Jacksonville Elementary School will remain closed for an additional day.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Leaders with the Jacksonville North Pulaski School District have announced that the Jacksonville Elementary School will remain closed on August 26, while they continue to wait for “final environmental testing results” after mold was found in the school building.
Around 2:00 Tuesday afternoon, district leaders spoke with their EMTEC consultants about the latest air-quality testing. At that time, they had not yet received the final report.

Officials stated that even if they received the report later in the day, they understand that families and staff need time to plan.
They also stated they were waiting for several replacement parts for the school’s Dedicated Outdoor Air System, or DOAS, an important part of the HVAC system.
These reasons led to the decision to keep the school closed and have students and staff at Jacksonville High School for one additional day.
The decision to close the school for five days came after environmental testing revealed elevated mold levels in multiple areas of the school.
After additional walk-throughs, specialists with Metro Cleaning told leaders that the entire Jacksonville Elementary building should be professionally cleaned.
Leaders had also closed the school on August 24th and 25th while awaiting “final environmental testing results.”
