Elderly woman airlifted after being struck by vehicle in Stuart Dollar Tree parking lot

STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — An elderly woman was airlifted to a Fort Pierce hospital after she was struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning in a Stuart parking lot, police said.

Officers with the Stuart Police Department say the crash happened around 11:15 a.m. in the parking lot directly in front of the Dollar Tree in the 2300 block of SE Ocean Boulevard.

Preliminary information reportedly indicates a vehicle struck the woman, who was taken by air to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital for treatment.

Her current condition was not immediately known.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said. Stuart Police detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
