Saying goodbye to a treasured restaurant is never easy. Here are 10 eateries that recently closed their doors in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Broward County
My Big Fat Greek Restaurant, 3445 Griffin Road, Dania Beach: This Griffin Road mainstay has closed so longtime owners Aphrodite Papadopulos and Sarantis Boutsikos can retire, according to a farewell Facebook post. “Watching your families grow alongside ours has been one of the greatest blessings of our lives,” the post said. Alongside belly dancing, the restaurant offered platters of braised lamb shank and cinnamon-scented orzo, slabs of moussaka and pastitsio, plus an off-menu white-bean hummus (lighter and creamier compared with traditional garbanzo beans) that was served with complimentary bread. Cabo Blanco Restaurant & Bar, 1936 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood: This restaurant, just west of Young Circle, served “authentic Peruvian cuisine and artisanal flavors,” according to its website. Posts on both Instagram and Facebook said: “We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of our customers and the community who supported us throughout these three incredible decades. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your celebrations, family gatherings, lunches, dinners, and so many special memories.” CLOSED: July 22, per social media posts.

Voodoo Brewing Co., 3492 NE 12th Ave., Oakland Park: This brewpub, which opened in April 2025, did not make beer on site, instead trucking in suds from its Pennsylvania hub such as Lacto-Kooler (a Berliner weisse), Good Vibes (a West Coast IPA) and Empty Calories (American lager). Its menu also featured burgers and chicken wings. The brewery’s website is deactivated and front-door signage lists the space as “Closed” and “Available.” Voodoo Brewing operates locations nationwide. CLOSED: This summer.
Thasos Greek Taverna, 3330 E Oakland Park Blvd., Fort Lauderdale: The bad news is that this upscale take on Hellenic cuisine has closed. The good news is that Meat Market steakhouse in Boca Raton purchased the venue in June. “We’re excited to confirm that we have acquired the former Thasos Greek Taverna location and plan to bring Meat Market to Fort Lauderdale,” David Tornek, CEO of Meat Market, told the South Florida Sun Sentinel in an email. “Fort Lauderdale has been a market we’ve had our eye on for some time, and we believe this is the right location for our next South Florida restaurant. Construction will begin soon, with additional details and an opening timeline to be announced.” Multiple attempts to reach Thasos chef/owner Sophia Mylona were unsuccessful. The website has been deactivated. CLOSED: An event called the “Last Party and Supper” took place May 21, according to an Instagram post and event announcement.

Ol’Days Farm to Table Cafe & Brunch Las Olas, 200 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale: This brand started out as a coffee house — with locations in Miami, New York City and Buenos Aires, Argentina — before menu-morphing and offering home-style dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Repeated attempts to reach Ol’Days were unsuccessful. CLOSED: Aug. 2, per retail leasing manager.
Giorgio’s Bistro & Bakery, 3537 Galt Ocean Drive, Fort Lauderdale: The Hollywood location remains open, but not its Galt Ocean Mile outpost, which opened in early 2025. The brand’s website no longer mentions Fort Lauderdale, and a person who answered the phone there confirmed the closure. Repeated attempts to reach the former manager and leasing agent were unsuccessful. CLOSED: Spring-summer 2026.

Con Murphy’s Ocean Bar & Grill, 7 S. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Fort Lauderdale: This ocean-facing Irish eatery was a restaurant anchor for Beach Place, the open-air shopping, dining and entertainment destination on State Road A1A. CLOSED: July, per Beach Place’s real estate/leasing agent.
Johnny Rockets, 2608 Sawgrass Mills Circle, Sunrise: This Sawgrass Mills retro-diner franchise turning out burgers, fries and milkshakes has shuttered, and its phone number and mall page are disabled. The 20,000-square-foot restaurant had co-branded with the amusement center In the Game, which also closed. Fat Brands Inc. sold off restaurant holdings including Johnny Rockets in July, according to Reuters. CLOSED: Aug. 1, per InTheGame.net.
Palm Beach County
What’Sub, 23223 State Road 7, Boca Raton: The fast-expanding sandwicherie — with imported prosciutto, porchetta, mortadella and other Italian cold cuts on fresh focaccia — has shut its west Boca Raton location, owner Antonio Spadaro told the Sun Sentinel. The shop, voted a Best Sub finalist by Sun Sentinel readers, also featured housemade meat lasagna, Roman-style meatballs, eggplant towers and subs on sesame-seeded and unseeded hoagies. Three locations remain, in Fort Lauderdale, Deerfield Beach and Palm Beach Gardens. CLOSED: July 24, per Spadaro.
Mystic Table, 218 Clematis St., West Palm Beach: Six short months after its February debut — a grand-opening sign still swings above the front doors — this Italian steakhouse with theatrical cocktails and a chef’s table from CEO Sid Sethi has quietly closed. A note on reservation platform OpenTable.com reads: “This restaurant is permanently closed. Thank you for letting us be a part of your celebrations, date nights, family dinners, and everyday moments.” The venue also featured live jazz, tableside close-up magic and comedy nights.
