TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Tallahassee City Commission is taking the next steps in the search for the next city manager.
The commission voted to move forward with a three-part interview process for three finalists at its Wednesday meeting.
According to a city press release, the three finalists are Scott Andrews, Karen Jumonville and Valerie Washington.
Andrews is the former County Manager of Dona Ana, New Mexico. Jumonville is the Deputy City Manager of Tallahassee and Washington is the Assistant City Manager of Fort Worth, Texas.
Each of the finalists will interview with Mayor John Dailey and each city commissioner individually on Tuesday, Sept. 1, according to the city.
Later that day, a community meet-and-greet with the candidates is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Parkview at Cascades.
More Tallahassee news:
On Sept. 2, the finalists will each provide a public presentation to the commissioners about their interest in and qualifications for the position, the city said. These presentations will begin at 9 a.m. in the City Commission Chambers.
Commissioners will deliberate after these presentations.
Renée Narloch & Associates, a public sector search firm, developed and presented the interview process to the City Commission for commissioners to approve.
“This comprehensive, multi-step process will provide meaningful insight into each of the candidate’s qualifications and leadership style giving the City Commission ample opportunity to thoroughly vet them,” Narloch said.
Current Tallahassee City Manager Reese Goad announced his resignation in April. His retirement, after 31 years of public service, will take effect Sept. 30, or when a new city manager is selected.
