TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida State University students returned to campus Monday for the first day of fall classes.
According to the university, more than 6,000 first-year students began classes Monday. The total number of students is around 45,000.
Students filled FSU’s campus for the first day of fall classes. Some are just starting their journey, while others are entering their final year.
FSU sophomore Emmie Grabill and freshman Sadie Benoit said they are enthusiastic about the semester ahead. For Grable, the start of the year is about reunions. For Benoit, it marks a first of many milestones, including her first day of college, her first time living away from home and her first experience of life on her own.
“I’m so excited to be back. I’m so excited to see all my friends and meet new friends, just like Sadie,” Grable said.
“I met so many people through recruitment, and then now I’ve met so many people at the house, and everybody’s so nice,” Benoit said.
Between move-in, sorority recruitment and a full class schedule, both students said the beginning of the school year has been a whirlwind.
FSU senior Elliot Muskat and student Mariah Shuford also shared their thoughts on returning to campus.
“I’m feeling good. I mean, I’m happy to be back on campus. It’s hot, as always… I mean, it’s worth it, though, because we get to be on such a beautiful campus, and we got the shade and everything, so I really can’t complain. I’m just happy to be here,” Muskat said.
“It feels really good. I feel more confident this year than last year. It was a little rocky, but I’m really excited this year,” Shuford said.
