‘Going to be missed’: NFL Pro Bowl game, hosted multiple times in Orlando, is ending
ORLANDO, Fla. —
The NFL announced Wednesday that it will no longer hold the Pro Bowl game.
The league said it’s aiming to “return its focus” to recognizing its most outstanding performers. As part of that focus shift, the league said it will no longer hold the Pro Bowl game.
The Pro Bowl came to Orlando in 2017 for multiple years, with another multi-year stretch stretch in 2024 and 2025. According to the website for Camping World Stadium’s improvement project, the Pro Bowl game generated about $45 million in economic impact each year, making the loss of the opportunity to host again a tough one.
WESH 2 News spoke with Dustin Thomson, taproom manager at Ivanhoe Park Lager House, located minutes from Camping World Stadium, about the impact of the Pro Bowl game.
“Having a place you could go with your kids, grab some food, grab a few beers before you go over there was pretty good,” Thomson said. “I would say maybe not as big of an impact as the college football games that we have, the two a year here or three a year, but it was definitely going to be missed now that it’s gone for sure.”
Camping World Stadium will still host other major events, including Jacksonville Jaguars home games in 2027.
