A little slice of D.C. is headed to Miami! Call Your Mother, the wildly popular Washington-based deli chain, is bringing its signature bagels and stacked sandwiches to South Florida for the very first time. Setting up shop at 317 Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, the upcoming location is slated to open its doors in late 2026.

If you aren’t familiar with this “Jew-ish” bagel shop, you should know it’s previously been ranked the No. 5 best bagel spot in the entire nation. Founded in 2018 at a local farmers market by “Chief Doughboi” Andrew Dana and James Beard-recognized Chef Daniela Moreira, Call Your Mother takes its food serious, but not itself. The shops are dreamt up and designed to feel bright and welcoming, kind of “like a mini vacation,” the brand describes in a press release, “Except with way more carbs.”
Moreira, who had actually never tried a bagel growing up, crafted a unique recipe by crisscrossing the U.S. and Canada to try thousands of them and making thousands more to get it just right. The resulting bagels are malt boiled to shine on the outside, baked daily in-shop to be soft on the inside with a kiss of honey and a tiny hole to hold a proper sandwich.
The sandwich menu spans from sweet to spicy, with fan favorites like the Jetski (brisket, pastrami, sofrito, cheese, jalapeño, on a cheddar bagel); the DelRay Club (bacon, jalapeño, nectarine, potato chips, peach cream cheese) and the classic Suncity (bacon, pastrami or Impossible sausage, bodega-style egg, cheeses, spicy honey, on an everything bagel).

Additional food highlights include gluten-friendly potato latkes, fresh-baked cookies, whole pickles and more. For drinks, there’s coffees, cappuccinos, lattes, matchas, chais and more.

First Florida location
Since beginning as a humble farmers market stand, the D.C.-born brand has since expanded its footprint to locations across Maryland, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois, and now, Florida. The expansion is personal for the founders, who have admired the local food culture for a long time.

For Dana, who grew up visiting his Jewish grandparents in South Florida, the move is a nostalgic nod to childhood golf outings and meals at beloved delis like TooJays and Three G’s. For Moreira, growing up in Argentina, Miami is the perfect place to immerse her children in a city where Spanish and Latin American culinary traditions are a part of everyday life.
“We aren’t going to just fly in and out for openings,” she said. “We cannot stop smiling about spending more time here. We want to soak up the sun, meet our neighbors, eat across Miami, learn from the people who have been feeding the city for years and build shops that are genuinely useful to the communities where they open.”
