DCPS to not have access to independant council

The bill for an independent council failed by one vote.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville City Council failed to pass a vote Tuesday evening that would allow the Duval County School District access to an independent attorney in a 9-8 vote.

Resolution 2025-0695 would have “employ a general counsel who shall be independent from the City’s Office of General Counsel and shall not be subject to opinions, binding or otherwise, of the City’s General Counsel”

The following nine council members voted NO to the bill:
