ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Young people across Tampa Bay are invited to attend the inaugural Lead the Change Summit on Saturday in St. Pete.
Some of the young people attending this weekend’s event said jobs, programs for teens and mental health are top of mind for them.
“I think programs are headed in the right direction. Maybe certain activities in the program that are engaging to teens and opportunities like these, I think is a good start,” said 15-year-old Nysia Mitchem.
Organizers for the event are encouraging young people to let their voices be heard. The Lead the Change Summit is being held at The Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg, which also serves as a funding source for a lot of the programs that help teens.
So, the information young people provide is expected to far reaching benefits.
“They wanted to have access to mental health resources, have access to leadership and employment opportunities, just to be able to really have access. So that’s the point of this next event, is really just allowing our kids to find out what that looks like,” said Rise Youth Program Manager Dashon Mims.
The Lead the Change Summit is a free event and is being held Saturday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Kids from all over the Bay area between the ages of 12 through 19 are invited to attend.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to register here.
