FLEMING ISLAND — On U.S. Highway 17 lies Hive and Seek Boutique, where every corner tells a story.
From vintage items imported straight from Ireland to art sourced from just across town, there’s always something to indulge in.
Established in 2025, Katie and Steve Boyd have created a charming outlet for everyone.
On a flight home, Hive and Seek Boutique was born. The name is inspired by her two boys, now 25 and 27, who were unable to pronounce “because” when they were young. So, they said “bees” instead.
“On the plane, we thought of the name of the store and everything,” Katie said.
“[We] started looking for the perfect location. It all just kind of fell into place.”
As a life-long thrifter with a passion for the distinct and extraordinary, Katie’s passion was brought to life in May of last year when the boutique opened its doors.
“For two solid years, we shopped. We resourced,” she said.
Much care and attention went into crafting a unique inventory for their new space. Buzzing with sparkling jewelry, cozy home decorations and – of course – delicious honey from local vendors, the shop has something for everyone and is always evolving.
Unlike your traditional thrift store, Hive & Seek Boutique is a woman and veteran-owned small business, open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Katie said her favorite part about the thrifting experience is not just the items, but the people that walk through their doors.
“I love the shopping part, but mostly – I love meeting our community,” she said.
With five-star reviews, Katie and Steve’s goal is to bring the community closer through their distinct style, and unique and beautiful crafts. In the near future, they plan to move their lives to Tennessee, hoping to further expand their bustling business.
