Grand Theft Auto VI might take inspiration from Miami to bring players into the fictional world of Vice City, but it looks like the roles may be reversed. According to a recent report from The Miamian, Rockstar Games and Miami-Dade County are in talks to promote the anticipated release of the game with installations and signage across major areas of the city.
Through a public records request, the publication got a hold of a 19-page pitch deck from county officials submitted to the game publisher on June 29. Proposed concepts include transforming locations like Miami International Airport and Rickenbacker Beach.
A pitch built for Vice City
At MIA, aircraft would be wrapped in Vice City logos, alongside GTA-inspired baggage claims with customized carousels and column wraps. Additionally, travelers might come across themed luggage carts, limited-edition luggage tags and coordinated airport signage.
Rickenbacker Beach would feature a Vice City-inspired sculptural sign, photo frame or shaded overlook designed to capture Biscayne Bay’s sunset views and improve the beach experience for residents and visitors through bicycle racks and water-bottle refill stations.
The deck also suggests a public transit takeover, with Metromover cars sporting Vice City colors and signage posted across major Metrorail stations like the Stephen P. Clark Government Center, Brickell and Bayfront Park. On the street level, the pitch includes artist-designed manhole covers and utility-box wraps in Downtown and Brickell to incorporate the game’s aesthetic into the city’s walkways.
Over at PortMiami, a large mural or installation inspired by the game’s “Port Gellhorn” would incorporate the working waterfront’s cargo containers, cranes and cruise ships. While designed to be viewed from the water, a potential water-taxi experience could allow passengers to travel along Biscayne Bay from the lot behind the Kaseya Center.
Plus, Tropical Park could host a “family-appropriate” motor fest celebrating classic custom cars, lowriders and motorcycles, complete with DJs, food vendors and public art.
None of these concepts have been approved, with Miami-Dade Communications Director Carlos Suarez telling The Miamian that Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s staff has held “some conversations with Rockstar about potential opportunities around the launch of GTA VI.”
“Nothing has been formally agreed to or approved, and any idea would have to go through the appropriate review and approval process. Given Miami-Dade’s clear influence on the game, we think there could be a unique opportunity to generate revenue for the County while showcasing Miami-Dade to a massive audience,” Suarez added.
In the meantime, an “Extended Look” at GTA VI is being premiered on Netflix today, at 3 p.m. ET. The 26-minute special will dive into the gameplay and open-world environment of Leonida (a fictional state modeled after Florida).
The game is scheduled to release on November 19, 2026.
