Foxtail Coffee Co. and Southwest Florida Housing Foundation, the nonprofit development arm of The Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers, recently celebrated the grand opening of the coffee shop at Latimer Crossing, a 92-unit mixed-income community featuring residential and commercial space on Cleveland Avenue.
Representatives from Foxtail Coffee and Southwest Florida Housing Foundation gathered with residents and community supporters on Aug. 27 for the ribbon cutting, marking the first official commercial tenant at the property. The 1,745-square-foot coffee shop is one of three commercial spaces at Latimer Crossing designed to attract local businesses and provide convenience for residents and neighbors.
Open to the public, Foxtail Coffee offers handcrafted coffee, specialty beverages and food items to Latimer Crossing, serving both residents and the greater community. The location also houses Kelly’s Ice Cream Shop, creating a one-stop destination for coffee, treats and gathering.
To continue the celebration throughout the weekend, guests can enjoy 20% off their purchases at Foxtail Coffee through Sunday by mentioning the grand opening event.
“We are excited to welcome Foxtail Coffee to Latimer Crossing as the first business to help make this community a great place to live, work and gather,” said Marcia Davis, executive director of the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers. “Our vision for this community extends beyond providing quality housing to create a neighborhood where residents are just a few steps away from amenities while also attracting businesses that serve the broader Fort Myers community.”
Foxtail Coffee opened its first location in 2016 and has since grown to more than 100 locations across seven states. Latimer Crossing marks the fourth Southwest Florida location led by franchise owners Scott and Diana Willis. The husband-and-wife duo are also longtime owners of Jason’s Deli of Southwest Florida, operating several franchises across the region for more than 20 years.
“We’re thrilled to bring the Foxtail Coffee concept to Latimer Crossing as our first Fort Myers location,” said Diana Willis, franchise owner for Foxtail Coffee. “Beyond great coffee, Foxtail brings a vibrant energy and welcoming atmosphere where guests can relax, work or catch up with friends. We’re proud to bring this neighborhood space to the heart of Fort Myers and look forward to serving coffee lovers here for years to come.”
Latimer Crossing is part of Phase I of the Greater Dunbar Initiative. The large-scale revitalization aims to provide affordable and workforce housing units for residents while expanding choices, creating market-rate amenities and adding new mixed-income housing to create a resilient and healthy neighborhood.
There are other commercial spaces still available for lease at Latimer Crossing for businesses looking to expand into the area. To learn more about leasing opportunities, contact Rick Ikeler with Trinity Commercial Group at Rick.Ikeler@TrinityCRE.com or 214-334-3595.
