A photograph of jazz guitarist Carl Amundson performing live under vibrant blue stage lighting. Seated centrally in a dark suit jacket, white collared shirt, red patterned tie, and dark trousers with his legs crossed, Amundson focuses intently while playing a sunburst Guild hollowbody electric guitar. On the left behind him, a upright bass player in a dark suit with gold sleeve stripes plays a double bass, while a silver sign reading "door" is visible in the background.Carl Amundson Credit: carlamundson.com

Charlie Byrd would’ve turned 101 years old in September. Expect Carl Amundson to call a few tunes by the jazz icon at this guitar pull of sorts hosted by The Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association. Five guitarists take the stage, backed by a three-piece rhythm section, for solo sets all before coming together at the end for the finale.

Tickets to see Carl Amundson, Bart Hanchey, Charlie Robinson, Jose Velandia, and Vincent Sims at Seven C Music in St. Petersburg on Saturday, Aug. 29 are still available and start at $25.
