Universal Studios will launch Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness haunted houses at Halloween Horror Nights. Orlando opens Aug. 28, and Hollywood follows on Sept. 3. The attraction honors the late heavy metal legend and spans more than 40 years of his work as a solo artist.
The houses transport fans through moments from his music and album art. Scenes draw from albums like Blizzard Of Ozz, Diary Of A Madman, Bark At The Moon, No More Tears, and Ordinary Man.
“Ozzy never stopped pushing boundaries, and he loved anything that gave fans a new way to experience his music and the worlds he created,” Sharon and Jack Osbourne said in a joint statement, as quoted by Variety. “Halloween Horror Nights has done an incredible job bringing that spirit to life.”
Mike Aiello works as senior director of entertainment creative development at Universal Orlando Resort. He said the team worked to build an authentic experience that brings the artist’s creativity to life.
“Fans will discover so many meaningful details, including a few Easter Eggs, as they navigate memorable dark and twisted moments inspired by his iconic musical career,” Aiello said.
Sharon and Jack Osbourne worked with Universal on the project. Charles Gray, senior show director at the Florida park, said the family members were involved in planning and execution, according to Billboard.
Global Merchandising Services announced the collaboration in July. The company serves as the worldwide licensing agent for the artist. The attraction includes merchandise such as apparel and collectibles. These items will be available at both resorts and online through shopUniversal.com.
Halloween Horror Nights runs select nights Aug. 28 through Nov. 1 at Universal Orlando Resort and Sept. 3 through Nov. 1 at Universal Studios Hollywood. Tickets are available at www.HalloweenHorrorNights.com.
