TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Tallahassee firefighters spent three days sharpening the specialized skills needed to save lives when buildings fail.

Crews with the Tallahassee Fire Department completed Urban Search and Rescue training at the Florida Public Safety Institute focused on structural collapse stabilization, along with breaching and breaking techniques.

The training provided hands-on experience for current USAR Task Force 7 members and also gave crews across the department an opportunity to participate and strengthen their skills. Department officials said continued training helps keep firefighters prepared for complex rescue situations when every skill matters.
