JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol said investigators arrested a man Thursday on a first-degree felony charge of aggravated fleeing and eluding resulting in serious bodily injury to an officer for actions during a June 21 pursuit.

The patrol said the incident began when Trooper Ra’Jean Martin initiated a traffic stop for Aden Lothar Parker, who was going 115 mph in a 55 mph zone on the I-295 northbound exit ramp to State Road 21 (Blanding Boulevard). After being signaled to stop, the patrol said, Parker acknowledged the stop and then fled.

During the pursuit, investigators said, Parker operated his motorcycle in an “extremely hazardous” manner and committed numerous traffic violations. The chase ended when a patrol car crashed, seriously injuring the trooper. Parker then fled the scene, the agency said.

Evidence was collected or seized, and officials said additional charges are expected as the probe continues.

Parker is being held on $500,003 bond; conditions include house arrest with GPS monitoring and a prohibition on driving, the patrol said.

Martin is recovering at home from the injuries sustained in the crash and was relieved to hear of the arrest, the agency said.

“This arrest should serve as a reminder to the motoring public that dangerous behavior, whether on two wheels or four, will not be tolerated on our highways,” FHP said, adding it is committed to removing dangerous offenders from the streets.
