August 28, 2026 – The Federal Emergency Management Agency “is preparing to issue new Flood Insurance Rate Maps maps for the Alligator Creek watershed area in the city of Clearwater that may affect several properties,” according to a prepared statement. The watershed drains through Alligator Lake into Old Tampa Bay. Three open houses are scheduled to help educate community members. The first will take place Sept. 12 at the East Community Library, at 2465 Drew St., from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The second is planned for Sept. 30 at the Safety Harbor Public Library, at 101 2nd Street N., from 4 to 7 p.m. A third event will be held Nov. 10 at the East Community Library from 1o a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, visit this link.
