TAMPA, Fla. (August 28, 2026) – The University of South Florida women’s soccer team returns to the road Sunday, traveling to DeLand, Fla., to take on Stetson at 6 p. m. The Bulls and Hatters both enter the matchup searching for their first win of the 2026 season. 

Setting the Stage

South Florida enters Sunday at 0-3-0 after opening the season with road matches against Gonzaga and Washington State before returning home to face in-state rival UCF. Stetson enters Sunday at 0-3-0 after opening its season against a challenging slate. The Hatters hosted defending national champion and No. 4 Florida State in their season opener before traveling to Kennesaw State and Troy. 

Series History

South Florida holds a 13-2-2 advantage in the all-time series against Stetson. The Bulls have won the last two meetings, including a 3-0 victory the last time the teams met in Tampa.

Amelia Malkin and Maya Hindson have each found the back of the net, accounting for South Florida’s two goals this season. 
Gaby Rourke has started all three matches in goal for the Bulls, recording 11 saves, including a season-high five against UCF.

About South Florida Women’s Soccer

Chris Brown enters his third season as USF head coach after a record-setting debut in 2024, leading the Bulls to 12 wins and coaching both the American Athletic Conference Midfielder and Goalkeeper of the Year. South Florida produced six all-conference players. He recorded the most wins in a debut season with 12 wins. Brown followed that success by guiding the Bulls to a 9-8-3 overall record and a trip to the American Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals in 2025, as South Florida earned a first-round tournament victory and secured three selections to the American Athletic Conference Preseason Watch List entering 2026. Brown spent 17 years as associate head coach (2007–2023), helping USF to three American Athletic Conference titles, eight NCAA appearances, and a 10-year streak of 10+ win seasons. He coached USF’s first All-American, Evelyne Viens, now a Hall of Famer and Olympic gold medalist, and has developed multiple American Athletic Conference award winners. Players under his guidance hold most of the program’s records.
