ORLANDO, Fla. (August 28, 2026) – The University of South Florida men’s soccer team fell to UCF in Orlando for the first time since 2018. The Bulls (1-2-0) were defeated by the Knights (2-0-1) in full time, 2-0.
 
UCF struck first with the only goal of the first half in the 28th minute. Takahiro Fujita scored his second goal of the season to the top center of the net, assisted by Joey Mueller and Younes Boudinar. The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Knights through the first 45 minutes.
 
In the second half, UCF scored its second goal of the match in the 77th minute. Kenn Muendo scored his first goal of the season to the top right of the net, assisted by Alex Partera and Erik Vazquez.
 
South Florida ended the match with five shots, one shot on goal, and three corner kicks. The Bulls had 14 fouls, with three yellow cards assessed to Pedro Faife, Matheo Becerra, and Jakob Auby. The Knights received two yellow cards.
 
Alexis Martin played all 90 minutes in goal, making seven saves on the night. He has now started and played all 90 minutes in all three of South Florida’s matches this season.

UP NEXT
The Bulls return home for their fourth match of the 2026 season, hosting UNF. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, with first kick at 7:00 p.m., and will be streamed on ESPN+.

About South Florida Men’s Soccer

The oldest varsity athletic program at South Florida, men’s soccer competed in the school’s first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3.

The Bulls have claimed 14 conference championships and made 22 NCAA Tournament appearances, including three trips to the Elite Eight. On Dec. 10, 2025, head coach George Kiefer was hired for his second tenure at South Florida. Kiefer previously led the Bulls from 2002-16, compiling one of the most successful stretches in program history as the Bulls went 162-86-51 (.627), earned four conference championships, and made 10 NCAA Tournament appearances. Under Kiefer, South Florida advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2008 and 2011. His six NCAA Tournament victories remain the most in program history, and his win total ranks second all-time among South Florida head coaches.
